Jesus is our High Priest

Jesus’ death was not the end.  He rose from the dead after He eliminated our problem with sin and death.  “But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died” (1 Corinthians 15:20 NLT).

Hebrews 7:25 describes Jesus as our living High Priest: “Therefore He is able also to save forever (completely, perfectly, for eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede and intervene on their behalf [with God]” (AMP).

There are at least two important facts in this verse.  First, if we go to God through Jesus, He is able to save us for eternity.  Second, Jesus is always interceding and intervening on our behalf.

We must go through Jesus to get to the Most High God.  It is only because of Jesus that we can go “boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16 KJV).

The Most High God is the same straightforward, righteous judge that He was in the Old Testament.  The grace that helps us to please God is given only through Jesus.
